Dr. Emma Nicol BVSc
Director / Senior Veterinarian

Dr. Emma Nicol grew up on a sheep and beef farm, in the Western District of Victoria. She has been involved with and riding horses for as long as she remembers.

Emma undertook a Diploma of Horse Business Management at Marcus Oldham College before undertaking her veterinary degree at Massey University, NZ.

On completion of her Veterinary Degree in 2005, Emma then went to further her veterinary education at Kansas State University,KS, USA. Here she completed an Internship in Equine Internal Medicine and Surgery, intensively training with world renowned equine medicine and surgery specialists. It was here that Dr. Emma's passion for equine medicine was realised and she continually strives to practise the highest standard of veterinary medicine.

Emma is a qualified FEI Veterinarian and FEI Treating Veterinarian. Emma is a current member of the Australian Veterinary Association (AVA) and Equine Veterinarians Australia (EVA). Emma is also a former EVA, Victorian State Representative.

Emma, known for her easy going, genuine and generous nature and is always improving on her knowledge with further education.

Emma has a passion for equine sports medicine and working with riders and their horses to achieve their goals. Her main interest is equine medicine and is interested in everything from foals to geriatrics. She is also passionate about thoroughbred and standardbred racing and achieving the best from all competing horses.


Dr. Georgina Spillane MVB
Associate Veterinarian

Georgina has joined Equivets Victoria from Dublin, Ireland.

Georgina studied Veterinary Medicine at University College Dublin before completing an equine surgical internship at one of the largest equine hospitals in the world, Hagyard Equine Medical Institute, Kentucky. In addition to this world-class experience, Georgina undertook a second equine internship at University College Dublin, rotating between the medicine and surgical departments.

Georginaโ€™s love of all things equine began at an early age, particularly competitive polocrosse. Georgina has played internationally for Ireland both at a junior level and with an U21s team. She has travelled to the UK, Australia and South Africa playing polocrosse and is eager to compete here in the Victorian polocrosse league next season.


  • Emerald has been riding horses since she could walk. She started with Pony Club and moved into the show world with her ponies as well as her home-bred Riding Ponies.

    Emerald has had many successes in the Show Ring including many State Title Championships as well as Royal Championships. She then started Dressage and has focused mainly on the Pony Dressage section weโ€™re her successes continued with many State and National Championships. Currently, she has 2 ponies in work, a German Riding Pony who she is bringing along through the Dressage levels, as well as an Arabian Riding Pony who will be shown in the Arab ring as well as exploring Show Jumping and Eventing.

    Emerald has always worked with horses at performance stables, racing stables, and equine rehab centre and now she is excited to be following her love for the care of animals into the equine vet nursing role here at EquiVets Victoria with Dr Emma Nicol

  • Having studied Animal care and management through Bendigo Tafe, Bec brings to the Equivets Farm team a wealth of knowledge and experience. She has worked around horses for most of her career, managing and working in a number of large racing stables. Outside of work hours, Bec runs a non for profit animal sanctuary called Bumpys Mission Sheep Sanctuary.

  • Beverly has worked in the Equine Veterinary space in Melbourne for over 20 years.

    Beverly met Dr Emma Nicol and joined the the Equivets practice in 2015, where she has been happy since.

    Beverly has a keen interest in the Geelong Football Club, racing and cricket.

  • Georgie Nicol is a 3-year-old, 65kg Rottweiler who is larger than most jockeys.

    Here at Equivets Victoria George is known for demanding belly rubs and being adorable. His job description includes overseeing the farm, loving foals and helping heal sick horses.
