Simon Tainsh : 3* Eventer
Based in Geelong, Simon Tainsh has been a regular on the Eventing scene for a number of years.
Growing up on the family farm where his parents bred Australian Ponies (Kingsfred Stud), he learnt to ride at a very young age. Simon joined Corio and Moorabool Pony Club in 1992. This is where he realised his passion for Eventing, excited by the challenges and opportunities presented to horse and rider.
Over the next few years, he represented Victoria at National Championships, was listed on State Squads and competed at a number of International Level Three Day Events including the Australian International (Adelaide), Melbourne and Lakes and Craters (Camperdown).
In 2010, anyone present at the Australian International 3DE may remember the “Make Simon Tainsh Pink for Breast Cancer”campaign. With support from local businesses, fellow eventing riders, the public and media coverage, Simon raised money for the Breast Cancer Network Australia (http://www.bcna.org.au) by riding his cross country phase all in pink.
Simon, with his fiancée, Jessica Cocks runs Kia Ora Performance Horses which is a training, schooling & educating facility catering for horses at all stages of their career.
Simon has a team of competition horses up to 3* star level. Some of these horses are owned by himself and others have owners there for the roller coaster ride for what is known as Eventing. Simon has also now begun a breeding program that will hopefully see him have some super home bred horses into the future.
With all this on his plate, Simon is also President of the Victorian Eventers Association (www.viceventers.com.au) as well as a qualified level 1 coach and is studying for his higher level coaching accreditation.
